Historical “still working” design

“On a rainy day in Rome the place to go is the Pantheon. At the top of the dome is a circular hole, the oculus, designed to let in light and let out smoke. From the ground it looks small but in fact it has a diameter of 8.2m. Now, of course, the problem is that it lets in rain as well as light but the Romans were great engineers and the floor of the Pantheon, apart from being nearly two thousand years old and made from the finest marble, has a very subtle slope and drainage system to carry the rainwater away. See it in action on a rainy day in Rome.

Andy, our architect in Rome, has chosen one of the highlights of the ancient architecture to make him suggestion. Trust him, classics never get old.
