Amsterdam for New Year’s Eve

Amsterdam is one of the top 5 European cities when it comes to design and architecture, and that might be the reason so many people enjoy spending their winter holidays in this city.

So for those of you who will go, we want to help you figure out what to do upon everything there is going on!

 1. The Amsterdam Light Festival

1-ALF This will be the third year Amsterdam hosts this magnificent event. From November 27th to January 18th 2015 Amsterdam lights up, offering different experiences of the city for both locals and tourists. There are 12 locations scattered around the city and they offer the same installations almost every night. So if you are visiting check out their website to know which one you rather go to. If you live in Amsterdam, don’t even hesitate and go to them all!

 2. Ice Skating Ring

2-ice

The most amazing ice skating ring for us is ICE* AMSTERDAM. It is located in the Museumsplein, so if you visit any main museum at all you will most certainly run into it! There are many activities and also skating lessons if you are afraid of your inexperience, although is a relatively easy sport to get a hang of it. Check out the website for events.

3. Opera and Ballet

3-ballet

From the December 12th to January 1st there is an ongoing show of Cinderella at Amsterdam’s Dutch National Opera & Ballet. It is Cristopher Wheeldon’s version and we find it to be a fascinating reinterpretation and adaption. And, when it’s cold outside, what better option is there but to get in a theater and enjoy the magic of ballet. Of course there are other ongoing shows as well. So if interested you might want to hurry up and buy your ticket ASAP!

 4.  Dappermarket

5-dappermarkt

Amsterdam Oost is one of the most culturally diverse neighborhoods there are in Amsterdam, and their local market is huge and full of different stalls (over 200) that will offer pillows to appliances or flower to foreign food. It’s open everyday but for Sundays, when it closes.

5. CT Coffee & Coconuts Amsterdam

6.ctcoconut

And after walking around the city with the cold winter wind, there is nothing better than a hot coffee to warm up. This time we want to recommend you CT Coffee & Coconuts Amsterdam located in the old Ceintuur Theatre. You will love the deco and your legs will appreciate the rest. They also have their own beer. So you know, no matter what the group wants, CT will probably have it!

6. The 9 Little Streets

7-9streets

This is the perfect way of finishing your day, walking around the most trendy shopping district there is currently in Amsterdam. Located in Old Town, these 9 streets are actually only 3 crossing canals. Go after ready to spend the night. You’ll probably fall in love with the small fashion boutiques or want to have dinner in one of the cool restaurants.

Looking for something else? We are always welcoming your suggestions and we’d want to know what you do!

However, if you want help! You can always book a tour with our guide and they will tell you all there is to know about Amsterdam.

Happy Holidays!
